We sold digital products via Gumroad for the last 6 years and after the latest issues with PayPal, we want to announce that we're making a migration from Gumroad to Lemon Squeezy! As part of our ongoing commitment to providing you with the best possible experience, we've decided to switch from Gumroad to Lemon Squeezy as our primary payment gateway.
How it's started
One day in October, we received an email from Gumroad informing us that PayPal is no longer a payment option for transactions processed through their platform.
"We wanted to inform you that PayPal has suspended Gumroad's use of their service. As a result, we can no longer process payouts to PayPal accounts."
After further investigation, we found that it's a serious issue and PayPal payments are temporarily disabled on Gumroad. Payments are currently unavailable on Gumroad which means that you can't purchase a product, or pay for the subscription using PayPal.
Why we're making a migration?
We sold digital products via Gumroad for the last 6 years. The first sales were made in December 2018. Since that time we have seen a lot of updates, some of which were beneficial, such as the introduction of bundles and subscriptions. However, other updates, like the recent increase in transaction fees, have been detrimental to our business. Here's why we are moving from Gumroad:
- Increase in transaction fees
- PayPal is no longer available as a payment option
- Gumroad UI design updates that don't match our website design
